Laboratory Manager

Azzur Lab is looking for a Lab Manager who will oversee all aspects of the microbiology laboratory operations, such as developing and implementing new testing or technology and the training and coaching of employees. The Laboratory Manager is also responsible for ensuring that client needs are fulfilled, the appropriate resources are available to complete testing, and the laboratory operations are conducted as appropriate.

Responsibilities:

Performing Test

1. Conducts laboratory testing when necessary.
2. Ensure that the test methodologies selected can provide the quality of results required; verification procedures used are adequate to determine the method's accuracy, precision, and other pertinent performance characteristics; perform the test methods as needed for accurate and reliable results.
3. Ensure operational adherence to applicable policies and procedures.

Planning of Tests

1. Ensures that the laboratory conditions are appropriate for the testing performed and provides a safe environment in which employees are protected from physical, chemical, and biological hazards.

Reporting Opinions and Interpretations

1. Understand the significance of deviations found concerning the normal use of materials tested and assist the Quality Department in investigating deviations.
2. Communicates with clients on an ongoing basis to discuss the interpretation of test results, trend analysis, and matters regarding exceeded concern levels, follow-ups, and reports.
3. Reviews opinions and interpretations expressed by testing personnel.

Method Modification and Development and Validation of New Methods

1. Collaborate in the research and implementation of new testing and technology and all of the method validation associated.
2. Ensure that the test methodologies selected can provide the quality of results required; verification procedures used are adequate to determine the method's accuracy, precision, and other pertinent performance characteristics; laboratory personnel is performing the test methods as required for reliable accuracy results.
3. Responsible for drafting and revision of documents.

Managerial Duties

1. Manages laboratory personnel.
2. Collaborate in the planning, development, organization, implementation, direction, and evaluation of the organization's laboratory operations and performance.
3. Conduct management reviews.
4. Monitor utilization patterns of lab services and advise appropriate staff of developing trends in analytical testing.
5. Ensure operational adherence to applicable policies and procedures by all technical and operational staff.
6. Acknowledges investigations of laboratory deviations and client exceeded concern levels.
7. Develops and implements training methods and oversees the training program.
8. Oversees the scheduling and conducts laboratory operations.

Required Work Experience: 

• 5- 8 years of microbiology laboratory experience
• A minimum of one year of management experience.
• Experience with product/raw material testing(USP,<61>,<71>,<85>,<51>,etc) process testing: and water testing.

Required Education:

• Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in a science field

Preferred Education:
